September 8, 2019 The chart above is the S&P 500 Exchange Traded Fund (SPY). The Red “V” marker on the chart marks the “breakout” that occurred on Thursday, September 5th. As you can see the index had been in what we call a “trading range” for 23 days, as indicated between the upper and lower black horizontal bands on the chart. Breakouts out are important. Nasdaq 100 Index Hits New High
Compare the charts above. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500, the NASDAQ Composite, the S&P Small Cap index and the Nasdaq 100. Take notice! The Nasdaq 100 index is the first to make an all-time high since rising above the September, 2018 close. Seems like the Dow Jones Industrial Average is close behind and the S&P Small Cap Index at this time is the laggard. The Markets can get more Bullish if more of the Indexes make new highs.
